Margaret Pratt addresses Foreign & Commonwealth Office conference

The FCO is responsible for providing consular support to those bereaved through murder or manslaughter abroad. The purpose of this event was for family liaison officers at the FCO to discuss how they could improve the support they offer to victims.
Margaret spoke to delegates for 30 minutes about her experiences in St Lucia, the support provided to her by the FCO hollowing Roger’s murder in Vieux Fort, and her frustrations with the ongoing delays in bringing the case to court.
Margaret praised FCO's immediate response in St Lucia and the practical support it provided following Roger's murder
, particularly in terms of smoothing her path back to the UK. She also highlighted a number of areas that could be improved, including the need for more effective ongoing communication.
She also expressed her frustrations with the capacity, capability and competence of the justice system in St Lucia, its inertia and lack of action.
